Kaliyanda hockey team (pic. left) won the Shantheyanda Hockey Cup-2016 beating Palanganda hockey team (pic. right) in sudden death after both teams ended at 1-1 in the finals at Madikeri yesterday.

The teams were also tied in the penalty shoot out.

Kodagu District In-charge Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao distributed the trophies and cheques to the winner and runner-up teams.

While the Kaliyanda team was awarded Rs. 2 lakh cash prize , the Palanganda team was awarded a cash prize of Rs. 1 lakh.

Kodava Hockey Namme-2017 will be hosted by Biddatanda family at Napoklu in Kodagu.
