DC extends cooperation for Dasara Janotsava

Deputy Commissioner Richard Vincent D’Souza said measures will be taken for the smooth movement of Dashamantapas during Dasara Janotsava in Madikeri.

Speaking during a preparatory meeting chaired by CMC President Kaveramma at the DC’s office hall in the city, he said thousands of tourists would be witnessing the event.

Therefore, appropriate measures should be taken by the departments concerned towards the safety of people, maintenance of peace, vehicle parking, movement of Dasha Mantapa and power supply, he added.

Superintendent of Police P Rajendra Prasad said sufficient number of policemen would be deployed to ensure law and order situation and suggested the Dasara committee office-bearers to deploy volunteers too.

Dasara Committee General Secretary A C Devaiah requested the district administration to allow to celebrate Dasara according to the bylaws brought into force earlier. Responding to it, the DC said all necessary cooperation would be extended to celebrate Madikeri Dasara peacefully.

Dasara Committee Working President Mahesh Jaini hoped that the government would release more grants to Madikeri Dasara. Preparations are on to celebrate Dasara for nine days, he added.

Committee member Pawan Pemmaiah requested the department concerned to repair the road on which the Dashamantapas move. More police personnel should be deployed at Indira Gandhi circle, Kodava Samaja building and Gandhi Maidan, he demanded.

Another member G Chidvilas said as the Cauvery issue is getting serious in the state, it cannot be predicted whether the government would sanction much funds for Madikeri Dasara. Therefore, conducting cultural programmes in Cauvery Kalakshetra for six days and three days in Gandhi maidan as earlier, might be better, she observed.

Dasara Samskruthika Samithi President H T Anil said cultural programmes would be held from October 3. Women’s Dasara and Children’s Dasara would also be held.
