Rishi’s Ramana Avatara to release in Telugu as well

Ramana Avatara pairs Rishi with Shubra Aiyappa and Pranitha Subash. The film is set to hit theatres shortly.

Kannada actor Rishi has not had a theatrical release since 2019’s Sarvajanikarige Suvarnavakasha. He was seen in cameos in not one, but three Kannada films – Mugilpete, One Cut Two Cut and Thurthu Nirgamana – and had a direct-to-OTT film Nodi Swamy Ivanu Irode Heege during the pandemic. His film Ramana Avatara has been ready for a while and Rishi was hoping to have it in theatres sometime in the second half of 2023, after his Telugu web series debut Shaitaan, but that did not happen.

The team is now on the lookout for a release date, with April the most likely candidate, but what’s also happening is that Ramana Avatara will no longer be just a Kannada film. It is officially a bilingual release with a Telugu version also being readied, given Rishi’s new-found popularity in those markets following the success of Shaitaan and that he is now working on Nandamuri Balakrishna’s untitled 109th project as antagonist, along with Bobby Deol. Rishi also has another Telugu film in his kitty in which he plays the lead.

Ramana Avatara, by director Vikas Pampapathi, is a comedy that has Rishi play the title character Rama, whose post break-up venture sees him try something to stop the migration of educated youth from his village to the city. The film also stars Shubra Aiyappa, Pranitha Subhash, Anirudha Acharya, among others, and has music by Judah Sandhy.

Rishi, who has just wound up work on a film called Rudra Garuda Purana, in which he plays a cop yet again after Kavaludaari, has been vocal about the need to deliver on what’s been promised in his films, so that audiences do not feel cheated when they watch it in theatres. “When I say that I have made an entertainer and that I would like people to come to theatres, I have to live up to that promise,” he had said.

Actress Shubra Aiyappa, who has worked in Telugu and Kannada films, married Bangalore-based businessman Vishal Sivappa in an intimate ceremony on Thursday.

Shubra Aiyappa posted a series of pictures from her wedding with Vishal Sivappa on Instagram

“Vishal and I got married in the presence of our loved ones in ‘Doddamane’. This is his ancestral home of over 150 years. We felt the love of this joyous occasion in this magical place with our beautiful near and dear ones,” She wrote along with the pictures.

The couple got married in at Vishal’s 150-year-old ancestral home in Coorg.

Shubra wore a beige saree with pink border and Vishal looked good in an all-white look with a head gear that matched Shubra’s saree.

Shubra and Vishal got engaged last January and went on a romantic holiday to the Maldives.

Shubra had spoken to the Times of India after her Maldives trip. “All I knew was that I was going to the Maldives for a trip. All I knew was that we had a dinner reservation. I wore my favourite outfit, thankfully. He had set up this place on a private beach with candles and a gazebo, where he went down on his knees and asked me if I would marry him. It was beautifully curated and it was an emotional moment for both of us,” she was quoted as saying by Times of India.

Shubra made her acting debut in 2014 with the Telugu film Prathinidhi.

Anant Nag: Thimayya is unique and complex

The senior actor talks about his role in Thimayya and Thimayya which not only challenged him as an actor, but also gave him a lot of enjoyment acing it

Legendary actor Anant Nag is set to star in Sanjay Sharma’s debut directorial, Thimayya & Thimayya, and shared that the role was very challenging. “When director Sanjay Sharma told me about this film, I asked him to send the script, and I enjoyed reading it. I was even surprised that such a story was coming from an ad filmmaker, and liked the way he understood the creative process of cinema,” says the actor.

Thimayya & Thimayya is about the bonding between a grandfather and grandson, and the actor plays an arrogant Coorgi person, who has a very unique and complex character arc. “There is a negative trait to the character (Thimayya), who is egoistic and selfish. In fact, I was debating whether to take up this role, but the shades that Sanjay had sketched to this part attracted me. I’m curious to know how the audience will react to this particular character,” says Anant Nag, who also appreciated the art director Vineeta for creating authentic structures that go well with Sanjay’s story.

Anant Nag’s Thimayya is not just wealthy in the film, but is also a good trumpet player. “He is good at playing the trumpet, but uses the same instrument to inflict violence too. He is a control freak, and wants his grandson to obey every order of his. The undercurrent theme of this film adds entertainment value to the script,” says Anant Nag, who was also happy to have learned a new instrument for the role.

Anant Nag is one of those very few actors, who craves to do better with each film and still enjoys everything about acting. Throughout his prolific acting career, he has always had filmmakers of that era develop scripts with him in mind. This constant updating has made filmmakers always approach him with unique roles and interesting stories. Sharing his love for collaborating with fresh talents, Anant Nag says, “I’m glad to know that there are directors who still have me in their minds while writing characters. Having said that, I don’t feel like accepting everything. I love to be part of projects where I can enjoy the character, and also be part of a team that sets a good atmosphere,” he signs off.

Thimayya and Thimayya, bankrolled by Rajesh Sharma, also stars Diganth, Aindrita Ray, and Shubra Aiyappa in the lead cast.

Latest trends in fashion becomes focus at Bangalore Derby 2020

While the city’s temperature soared to 30° C on Sunday, the excitement for Shree Meenakshi Sundereshwara Bangalore Derby 2020, which took place at The Bangalore Turf Club, also amped up. More than 5,000 people attended the event but the showstoppers were the eight handsome horses who participated in the race.

While stylish hats were the traditional favourite among the women, taking inspiration from Royal Ascot, the popular derby in London, the other fashion statements, which was a refreshing treat for the eyes, were monochrome colours, jumpsuits and pants.

Nishita Sivappa, daughter of Vinod Sivappa, chairman of Bangalore Turf Club, says when it comes to attending a derby, she has to go for something comfortable, in which she can enjoy the thrill of the race. “I have always loved breaking tradition. While ladies prefer dresses or skirt, which is lovely, I prefer comfortable pants and shirt, accessorised with a statement belt,” says Sivappa, who went for a co-ordinated pure white set, with a black and gold statement belt along with oversized sunglasses.

While Sivappa chose all-white, actress Shubra Aiyappa decided to got for a body-fitting jumpsuit. “I have been in that jumpsuit phase so went ahead with the instinct,” said Aiyappa, who picked the jumpsuit from a designer boutique in Dubai.

Derby without some harmless betting sounds incomplete. But actress-model Sanjjanaa Galrani says she usually does not gamble and moreover, she is working towards reducing one vice of her in a year. She was wearing a purple velvet dress, which she paired up with classy shoes, a fashionable watch and a trench.

“I added the trench so that people don’t get distracted from the race,” the actress added playfully. Celebrity fashion designer Delna Poonawalla, who comes from a famous family of horse breeders, gave a glimpse of her new collection too.

While women put on the fashion game so high, men didn’t hesitate to play along too. They showed off tapered pants, chequered suits and printed blazers. However, it was the race and good spirit that took all their attention.
